The School of International Economics and Business has the following educational objectives for fostering human resources with expert qualifications in the international economics and business sector based on the creative academic spirit of Yeungnam University and the educational goal of the College of Business and Economics.

The international economics and business field, which includes international commerce, global management, international financing and trade, has a much higher social demand compared to the limited supply of human resources. The various governmental ministries in the central level as well as the local level such as the Ministry of Education, MOTIE and MOSF are increasingly funding to develop the human resources in this field. - 1. Summary of the course This course is to assist university freshmen in CRM designing to adapt university life well through the instruction and counselling of supervising professor. (This course is composed of self analysis, personality type test, career research, instruction for the success of university life, career plan and direction setting, CRM designing method and CRM designing. The course should be teaching in classes of the students by supervising professor.) 2. Course objectives This course is to motivate the students before the mid term exam and provide students with self analysis, personality type test (MBTI or TCI) and career research (YAT test). Also, this course shall has a plan to instruct the students to enhance the efficiency of university life through career and time management. In addition, this course is to make a chance for the students to have practical assistance to university life by providing study method, report designing strategy and the information on academic system and various kinds of internal programs of the university. After the mid term exam, the students will be instructed to set the direction of career designing through continuous counselling of supervising professor and the students will be able to establish CRM designing and execution plan.

- This course is to cultivate community sense as members of society and the global village for students in order to develop the basic knowledge required as global citizens. Especially, this course is to foster the spirit of cooperation, sharing, service, and creativity and study the social contribution and leadership to solving the challenges the global community faces. As a liberal arts course, it is centered to nurture a leader having the global capability to contribute to community development through learning the knowledge and the case on the value & logic of social responsibility focused on environmental preservation, social contribution, and good governance(ESG). This course aims to foster a generous mind, learn knowledge and technology and build the capacity to contribute to building a society towards a safer and happier world through the study of theory and practice.
1- 1 - UNDERSTANDING GLOBAL BUSINESS
- This subject is a liberal arts course that explores the definition and implementation method of trade and global business, and its effects, and explores how trade and global business work and affect our ordinary life. In particular, this course aims to understand the origins and development of international commerce in the global era and the management behavior of international companies, and to learn about the challenges and practical solutions of the 4th revolution that our students have already faced.
1- 1 - UNDERSTANDING THE PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS
- By introducing students to the very basic economic principles, this course purpose to enhance student's ability analyze and synthetically understand the mode of human behavior in its economic aspects as well as the economic system. Detailed subjects to be dealt with in this course are as follows : the native and purpose of economics, the theory of demand and supply and its applications, the theory of consumers’and firms’behavior, the theory of competitive markets, monopoly, monopolistic competition, and oligopoly, etc.
1- 2 - APPLIED STATISTICS
- It is a lecture on statistical methods which abstract and summarize information from raw data. Descriptive statistics of which histogram, scatter plot, etc. are main issues and concepts of probability which is the basic paradigm for sample behavior, will be treated. Important concepts in statistical inference will be also covered. Based on these fundamental concepts, testing of the mean, variance and proportion, comparison of two means, correlation analysis, analysis of variance, regression analysis, categorical data analysis, time series analysis, non-parametric methods will be taught. Also students will have laboratories for real data analysis with statistical packages.
1- 2 - INTRODUCTION TO FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING
- This course provides an introduction to accounting within the context of business and business decision. The audience will explore accounting information’s role in the decisions marking process, and learn how to use various types of accounting information found in financial statements and annual reports. Understanding how accounting information can be used to make better business decisions will benefit all students, regardless of their major course of study or chosen career.
1- 2 - SOFTWARE AND AI
- Software and AI (Artificial Intelligence) course aims to educate the basic concepts of software and computational thinking to use them in various applications. It allows students of various majors to experience the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, such as big data, machine learning, and AI. It also introduces various applications of AI so that students can easily apply these technologies to their field of study. This course classifies the lecture types into three categories, and adjust the lecture difficulty according to the student's academic ability.
1- 2 - EXPLORING THE MAJOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE (SEMINAR)
- This course is opened for freshmen and transfer students of the Department of Trade, and learns about the course's guidance and career field in various detailed areas of the Department of Trade. Specifically, it examines international management, international economy and finance, trade practice, understanding and concepts of international law and international regions, and learning methods for major subjects. In particular, this course aims to learn in-depth through the form of team teaching seminars by professors in each major area, understanding the subject of the Department of Trade, which will be taken in earnest from the second grade, and future entrance and career fields. After taking this course, individual students aim to increase their understanding and satisfaction with their major areas by increasing their understanding of the entire trade department curriculum and industrial demand starting from the first semester of the second year.

- This lecture is on the foreign trade act as a fundamental rule to govern korean external trade. This lecture is composed of 5 parts as follows; legal system on trade management, trade management institutions, trade agent, management on nomenclature of products, rule of origin, remedy system on industrial injuries by imports.
2- 1 - COMPUTER UTILIZATION AND PROGRAMING
- Learning computer utilization and programming is critical in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Through this course, we will develop basic computer and programming skills and apply them to the field of international trade. In this course, students will gain a basic understanding of computers and learn how to use computers in international trade. In the lab, students will learn the fundamentals of using HWP, Execel, PPT and programming with R.
2- 1 - FOREIGN TRADE PRACTICE
- This course investigates basic theories, laws, rules and customs of international sale of goods, international transport, international payment and settlement of international commercial dispute arising from the course of international trade.
2- 1 - GLOBAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
- The purpose of this course is to provide valuable knowledge as well as fundmental theory required for successful management of global business executed under various different political, economical, social and cultural environments across countries.
2- 1 - MICROECONOMICS
- This course covers the general microeconomic theory of the behavior of individual decision-making units such as household and firm. Furthermore, the general equilibrium theory, welfare economics and information economics are also briefly introduced in this course.

2- 2 - DIGITAL TRADE
- e-Trade is not just to buy and sell tangible goods collaborating with trade partners but also to conduct electronic transactions within an organisation. e-Trade could have an impact on a significant portion of the world, on business and on people. This class is to study what e-Trade is; how it is being conducted and managed; and its major opportunities, limits, issues and risks. The topics are Market research, business proposal, offer/order, sales contract, marine insurance, transportation, arbitration in the whole process of cyber trade. It, particularly, distinguishes two extreme trade environments, off-line trade and on-line trade that coexist these days.
2- 2 - FUNDAMENTALS OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- This course is the basic finance course designed to enhance the accurate understanding of high level financial transactions in the economy. It deals with the understanding of the financial statements, cash flow analysis, the concept of present and future value, assessment of financial state.
2- 2 - MACROECONOMICS
- This course deals mainly with the problems of inflation and unemployment and focuses on how government policy can influence them. Heavy emphasis will be placed on a thorough understanding of basic analytical tools such as IS/LM framework and AD/AS model. Will center on an organized examination of the theoretical structure of different schools. Real world issues along with relevant data concerning the current state of the Korean economy will also be presented and discussed.
2- 2 - THE CUSTOMS LAW
- The law of international trade comprises the legal rules with a very broad subjects concerning transnational commercial transactions. However, introductory study such as this course, some of the most important aspects of the subject will be dealt with.
2- 2 - THEORY OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE
- This course deals with the pure theory of international trade. It studies the classical, the neoclassical, and Heckscher-Ohlin trade model as well as New trade theory, analyzing the sources of trade, the determination of trade pattern, the determination of terms of trade, and the economic effects of trade.
2- 2 - TRADE ENGLISH
- This course is to help the students think their approach to documents in foreign trade through exposure to materials written in English in fields such as manufacturing companies, transporting companies, insurance companies, and other institutions concerning. For good English to speak, listening, reading and writing emphasis will be placed on developing a multi dimensional command of English which enables them to make themselves understanding by others rather than on acquisition of knowledge limited only to reading and comprehending. - Whereas an effective international logitics system is important for domestic operations, it is absolutely critical for global manufacturing and marketing. International logistics operations must accommodate all domestic requirements and also deal with increased uncertainties associated with distance, demand, diversity, documentation etc. The class starts with focusing on forces, barriers and challenges involved in transportation and up to International logistics. It follows outlining typical international logistics operation models and stressing how major transport companies change as an international logistics company becomes more globalised.

3- 1 - THEORY OF FINANCIAL INVESTMENT
- The goal of this course is to provide students a grand tour in various aspects of modern financial theories and practices related to financial investment. This course emphasizes in-depth understanding in certain traditional areas for the course and introduces current topics at an introductory level. This course mainly covers stock and bond valuations and the modern portfolio theories, besides some general knowledge of financial markets and market efficiency. In addition, this course includes some introduction to security analysis techniques, performance evaluation and portfolio management.
3- 1 - TRADE AND MARINE INSURANCE
- Marine insurance is a must for ship owners, shipping corporations, and cargo owners to protect their interests. With over 90% of the world's trade being carried out by oversea shipping, the importance of marine insurance cannot be overstated. In 『Trade and Marine Insurance』, students learn the process of concluding a marine insurance contract along with a theoretical understanding of maritime risks. A marine insurance contract is summarized as a process of application by the policyholder and acceptance through underwriting by the insurance company. The underwriting process includes risk assessment, application of insurance rates, and surcharge. Through in-depth study of the ratring structure of marine insurance, we learn how to calculate insurance premiums for marine insurance contracts. In addition, when insurance claims are reported, we learn the loss adjustment process and the compensation process up to the completion of claim payments.
3- 1 - INTERNATIONAL MONETARY ECONOMICS
- The course consists of two parts; One is to cover the theory of open macroeconomics. Students will learn how to extend a closed economy to the open economy by allowing capital to flow between countries. And then students study how the freely-moving capital affects national income, employment, interest rate, and exchange rates. The second part of this course deals with various financial derivatives. It also discusses forwards and futures markets as well as spot currency markets.
3- 1 - THEORY OF WORLD TRADE POLICY
- This course is to understand the objective of trade policy, the characteristics comparison with free trade and protectionism which effects on domestic economy and international economy. And this field deals with the basic theory of economic integration, organization and negotiation of world trade, too.
3- 1 - U.S. FINANCIAL MARKETS
- This course deals with the U.S. financial market, which plays a central role in the global financial market. The U.S. financial market is closely connected to the global financial market, including Korea, and understanding the U.S. financial market is one of the basic factors in grasping the global economic situation and making appropriate decisions based on it. Specifically, this course outlines the U.S. financial system, stock market, bond market, foreign exchange market, and fiscal and monetary policy and explains major related issues. In addition, we examine the U.S. financial market in comparison with the Korean market and analyze the transmission of the U.S. financial market fluctuations on the Korean economy from various perspectives.

- This course is designed for studying the principle of world regional study. And this course is designed for studying economic phenomena of world regional economy such as world trade policy, organization of economic cooperation, environment of trade.
3- 2 - ANALYSIS OF GLOBAL FINANCIAL MARKET
- With globalization of financial market, international transaction of financial assets is rapidly growing in the various and complicated ways, and thus, the variability of financial asset price and the market uncertainty are also increasing. So, under this rapid environmental change, understanding on the global financial markets becomes a prerequisite to participants in every kind of global transactions. This lecture aims to nurture the ability of students to make optimal asset portfolio diversification in global financial markets and practice it in reality. The main contents of lecture are as follow : introduction of current financial issues and the structure of global financial markets, the working principle of global financial markets, the principle of price determination of key financial assets, the working mechanism of currency-related financial derivatives, the utilization of financial assets for various transactions such as arbitrage transaction, speculative transaction and hedging transaction, the basic forecasting method such as technical analysis, statistical ananlysis and so on.
3- 2 - CROSS-CULTURAL MANAGEMENT
- It is essential that the managers who participate in global business must comprehensively understand and effectively manage cultural differences between stakeholders from various cultural origins. This course, in particular, focuses on exercising theories and practices in regards to effective collaborations between cross-cultural partners using business cases around the globe.

- The objective of this course is designed for the students in the major of International Economics and Business to achieve both the practical knowledge and the experience in the related job fields.

- This course is subject to analyze and discuss on the general economic relations between countries and the general problems which can be discussed by theoretical basis of actual and monetary analysis.

- Logistics Management has become the core sector to create important economic value by the globalisation. Logistics is the cost-effective process of planning, implement, control to deal with the flow and storage from materials, semi-product, finished product and the resources of related information to the point of consumption to satisfy the customers' needs. For the manufacturers, the practical use of SCM(Supply Chain Management) has been gradually needing to establish the most competitive system for the production and distribution. The course aims to introduce the basic concepts and theories of logistics management in domestic and global context. It is also to deliver the general theories and practical knowledge on the material flow and to understand the entire internal commercial trades by looking into the commercial logistic parts and physical material flow simultaneously by including how the companies succeeded making efficiency of logistic control and what are the practical parts of trade as the previous stage of international material flow.

- This course deals with not only the basic principals of international finance but also open economy macroeconomics comprehensively. The most important recent developments and policy, the cause of exchange rate movements, international policy coordination are discussed.

3- 2 - INTRODUCTORY ECONOMETRICS
- Econometrics course provides students with ability to empirically assess and test theoretical models. Students will mainly learn linear regression methods and how to apply them, based on previous knowledge of basic statistics. Also minimum computing skills are learned to apply the empirical methods.

- This course focuses on general theories and examples on two topics, air logistics and air transport, which are important parts of the air transport and logistics industries. To qualify as an international logistics expert, we first learn about basic concepts, basic theories, characteristics and components of air logistics services, air logistics processes, management of air logistics service companies, and management and operation of service provision facilities. In addition, to provide basic knowledge about air transport, the characteristics, components, and service types of the air transport industry will be lectured, and the development process of the air transport industry, changes in the market environment, deregulation, and future development prospects will be covered. Finally, we will learn the international aviation regime, each country's aviation policies, and predict future changes in the air transport industry and market together.

- In this course, students are taught practical knowledge necessary for job career such as effective ways of interviewing with employers and filling out application forms for acquiring job. - This course covers the changing international trade environment and recent global trade issues. 4- 2 - BUSINESS INFORMATION AND LANGUAGE PROCESSING, AND LOGIC PROGRAMMING
- Business information is processed by the technology based on Web that has been improved to process language and knowledge. Language and knowledge processing is a core research field in next geneartion web. Students should study object-oriented language and logic programming, and web programming for preparing the next generation Web. In this lecture, the several advanced topics in language processing are focused. Empirical approach in language processing has been one of the mainstreams throughout the decade. Students will have the introduction to the dictionaries, corpus, the concepts of knowledge engineering, languages for knowledge processing, knowledge representation, inferences by knowledge, and the applications of knowledge engineering, students are asked to develop tools to analyse natural texts and extract useful statistical relations among linguistic units.
4- 2 - FTA THEORY AND APPLICATIONS
- This course studies both FTA theory and its applications to actual business practices. First, this course deals with the worldwide regionalism, the economic effects of FTAs, Korea's FTA policy, Korea's major FTAs with ASEAN, India, U.S. EU. Then it analyzes how to utilize FTAs in business practices, how to understand and apply the rules of origin within FTAs, how to practice FTAs' rules in actual businesses, and other related issues.
4- 2 - INVESTMENT ENVIRONMENT IN CHINA
- This course provides understanding of the conditions of foreign trade and foreign direct investment(FDI) of China. The Chinese institutions on the foreign trade and FDI are the key topic of this course. Also, the current situation of Korea-China trade and investment relations is covered, with emphasis being put on the case studies of trade disputes, and the success and failures of Korean invested firms in China.
4- 2 - GLOBAL BUSINESS STRATEGY
- This course is subject to acquire the fundamental strategy and managerial knowledge which is required for global business management. Specifically this course deals with global business strategic planning and development.
